It's the epitome of cuteness. The three-dimensional ribbon is playfully placed directly on the doll, giving it a charmingly quirky look. The soft, natural wood color is preserved on the face and body, adorned with vibrant camellia flowers, creating a cute Kokeshi doll full of feminine charm. Its rounded form and gentle smile exude warmth. Feel the craftsmanship, warmth, and traditional techniques unique to handmade items.
Usaburo Kokeshi began production in Gunma Prefecture in 1950 by Usaburo Okamoto, who used new techniques without being bound by previous methods or concepts. Its mysterious and calm expression conveys the inherent enigmatic charm of Kokeshi dolls. While the term Kokeshi can vary by region, the common interpretation is 木削子 (Kiko-shi), where 木 (ki) means wood, 削 (ke) means to shave, and 子 (shi) means child, signifying a cute child made by shaving wood.
